About Us

FOR LOVE OF COUNTRY (FLOC) BELIEVES IN GIVING BACK TO THOSE WHO PROTECT AND SERVE OUR COUNTRY.

JOIN US IN OUR MISSION TO SPREAD SUPPORT AND PATRIOTISM THROUGH ART, APPAREL AND GOOD DEEDS.

The painting that started it all...

I created a life size mural of 4 SWAT officers in a stack formation for Swanson Tactical Training Center in Ogden, Utah.  It was done with airbrush and it took me about 80 hours to complete.  While working on the painting, I was overcome with appreciation for everyone who protects and serves our country.  I wanted to do something to share my gratitude and support. With inspiration from an article written by Lt. Col. Dave Grossman on sheep, wolves and sheepdogs, I came up with the idea to start For Love of Country (FLOC) - protect the flock, confront the wolf - as a way to spread support and patriotism through art.

For Love of Country FLOC (www.floc.us) is dedicated to all of the men and women who protect and serve our country. We appreciate the 'sheepdogs' who commit their lives to protect the flock and confront the wolf. We are truly grateful!

We're a small shop with big hearts specializing in tactical artwork, patriotic clothing, inspiring posters and more.  We want to thank those who protect and serve our country and do our part to give back - so we were happy to find Canines With a Cause.  Their mission is to create sustainable programs and processes to effectively and holistically treat combat veterans with PTSD with well-trained, specialized service dogs that provide emotional therapy as companions. By rescuing dogs from kill shelters and using prison inmates as a means to train, they essentially save three lives: the veteran, the dog, and the inmate.

With every purchase on our site, we make a donation to Canines With a Cause.  We want to raise awareness of this great organization and are excited to get more involved in their mission.  Visit their website for more information and find out how you can also get involved: https://canineswithacause.org.

WE EXTEND A HEART FELT THANK YOU TO ALL THE 'SHEEPDOGS' AND THEIR FAMILIES WHO HAVE MADE SACRIFICES ON OUR BEHALF, SO WE MAY TO LIVE SAFELY IN THIS GREAT NATION.

About the Artist

Melinda (Mindy) has been passionate about drawing since her early childhood.  She began with a focus on wildlife and spent many years creating custom pet portraits (Portraits By Mela) before being commissioned in 2008 to paint the life size mural at Swanson Tactical Training Center.

She specializes in pencil, prisma colors, pen & ink, acrylics and airbrush.  She also has experience in Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator (online portfolio www.behance.net/MELA_design).

She and her husband enjoy spending time in the mountains hiking in the summer and skiing/snowboarding in the winter. When asked about her work and support of the foundations, Melinda states "It's one thing I can do to let the 'sheepdogs' know how grateful I am for their service."

With Melinda continually working on new projects, Joe Anter (her husband) oversees operations at FLOC. Unfailingly upbeat and highly motivated, Joe coordinates the business side of things.  A big fan of Lt. Col. Dave Grossman and his wonderful work, Joe is a natural sheepdog and is also very passionate about those who protect and serve our country.  Working as a team they hope to share their appreciation, love and respect to all who serve.
